Project description
This series was my main project for the MOME Open advanced photography course. The general project topic for the course was Compass. In that theme I choose the work on explore the concept of loneliness and solitude. There were questions in my head such as: What is loneliness? Can we feel alone in someone's company? Can we be ever truly alone in today's society?
To visualize this topic I chose a style in which I create pictures that look like film stills. This idea was inspired by Cindy Sherman's Untitled Film Stills series. I used strict, regulated compositions, searching for symmetry, thirds and fifths. My reason for the strict style was that is feel off, somewhat alienating, the same way being alone feels like.
