Project description
This project started during a MOME Open foundation photography course as my main personal work. First thing to settle was the subject matter, for which I choose the significant and influential people of my university studies at METU. This five people shaped my view on artistic subjects, made me think and question, and helped me get to a place where I can express my creative ideas. I mean this series as a thank you to them. I also wanted to take these photos at their favorite place, making the personal, close, familiar feeling stronger.
Next, the style of the pictures had to be decided. For me black and white for this just came naturally. I always felt that color, would be distracting. From the black and white and the choice of location, the preference that I tried to follow was the documentarist photography for the early 20th century. In the pictures I was looking for spontaneity. I wanted to capture an honest moment, that represent the given person well, in a unique way, that is ture to his personality.
